Bald Eagle Is No Longer Endangered

Today is a huge day for America's iconic Bald Eagle.

Bald EagleToday marks the end of a struggle that this majestic bird has endured for about 40 years.

They are now officially off of the Endangered Species List!  Just in time for America's independence celebration.

There are now 10,000 mating pairs of Bald Eagles in the world, so they are no longer in need of the protection of the Endangered Species Act.  They are still illegal to hunt or kill, so hopefully they will never need to be on the endangered list again!

Hopefully there will be many more species to follow in the Bald Eagle's footsteps.
